Team Information

Director, Controller and Queen’s Printer

OPSI is headed by the Director, Carol Tullo and operates as the principal focal point for public sector information in the UK. It is at the heart of information policy, setting standards, providing a practical framework of best practice for advising on and encouraging the re-use of PSI. Her Majesty’s Stationery Office (HMSO) with its core activities of management of Crown copyright and database rights, publication of legislation and provision of official publishing guidance continues to operate from within OPSI, as do the Letters Patent titles and statutory roles of Controller, Queen’s Printer of Acts of Parliament, Queen’s Printer for Scotland and Government Printer for Northern Ireland. The Controller reports to UK ministers and holds the public offices to Queen’s Printer and Government Printer for Northern Ireland, and directly to Scottish ministers in her capacity as the Queen’s Printer for Scotland.

Information Policy

The Information Policy Team manages and licenses Crown Copyright material on behalf of the Controller of HMSO and Parliamentary material on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Commons and the Clerk of the Parliaments. The team defines policy and provides advice and guidance on copyright matters.

Standards

The Standards Team is responsible for taking forward OPSI’s role as laid out in the Cross Cutting Review of the Knowledge Economy. This involves two distinct areas of responsibility: the Information Fair Trader Scheme and the Advisory Panel on Public Sector Information.

e-Services

The e-Services Team is at the heart of OPSI’s operations, ensuring that an evolving e-strategy is a core component of our overall business strategy and that our e-services are tailored to the needs of our customers.

Publishing Services

The Publishing Services Team has a wide range of responsibilities in relation to official publishing. It is responsible for overseeing the publication of all UK legislation and has a number of editorial responsibilities in relation to UK statutory publications and for the registration of all UK Statutory Instruments. It is also responsible for overseeing the production of the Official Gazettes, Command Papers and the Civil Service Year Book and will generally advise government departments about a wide range of official publishing issues
