LOCAL GOVERNMENT, ENGLAND AND WALES LOCAL GOVERNMENT, SCOTLAND

The Local Government Act 1986 (Commencement) Order 1987

Made 23rd November 1987

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 12(2) of the Local Government Act 1986[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 1986 (Commencement) Order 1987.
        2.    Section 5 of the Local Government Act 1986 comes into force on 1st April 1988.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order brings into force on 1st April 1988 section 5 of the Local Government Act 1986, which requires local authorities to keep separate accounts of their expenditure on publicity. It extends to England and Wales and Scotland.
    The remainder of the Act is already in force in accordance with section 12(2).
