ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

The Financial Assistance (UK 2000 Scotland) (Scotland) Order 1991

Made 30th April 1991
Laid before Parliament 21st May 1991
Coming into force 11th June 1991

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 153(4) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, considering that UK 2000 Scotland is an organisation whose purposes relate to the protection, improvement or better understanding of the environment, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Financial Assistance (UK 2000 Scotland) (Scotland) Order 1991, shall come into force on 11th June 1991 and shall extend to Scotland only.
        2.    Section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990[2] shall be varied by the addition of the following paragraph:
        "(o) UK 2000 Scotland." .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order enables the Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, to give financial assistance under section 153 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to UK 2000 Scotland. The objects of this company are to promote the conservation of the environment in Scotland, to encourage and fund projects for environmental improvement and to advance public education in and knowledge and awareness of the environment.
