SUPREME COURT OF ENGLAND AND WALES

Administration of Justice Act 1982 (Commencement No. 6) Order 1991

Made 22nd May 1991

    The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 76(1) of the Administration of Justice Act 1982[1] , hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Administration of Justice Act 1982 (Commencement No. 6) Order 1991.
        2.    The following provisions of the Administration of Justice Act 1982 shall come into force on the 13th of June 1991—
       (a) section 75, so far as it relates to—
         (i) sections 1 to 16 of the Administration of Justice Act 1965[2] ,
         (ii) the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 1978[3] , and
       (b) paragraphs 6 to 8 of Schedule 8.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order brings into force the repeal of sections 1 to 16 of the Administration of Justice Act 1965, which sections applied to funds in court in England and Wales and the establishment of Common Investment Funds. These matters are now governed by Part IV of the 1982 Act.
    The Order also brings into force the repeal of section 83 of the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 1978, which applied sections 1, 2, 12, 13 and 15 of the 1965 Act, as modified, to Northern Ireland (sections 42 to 47 of the 1982 Act already apply there). Paragraphs 6 to 8 of Schedule 8 to the 1982 Act, which amend certain enactments which apply to Northern Ireland to replace references to the 1965 Act with references to the 1982 Act, are also brought into force.
