NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE, ENGLAND AND WALES

The National Health Service (District Health Authorities) (No. 2) Order 1991

Made 9th September 1991
Laid before Parliament 10th September 1991
Coming into force 1st October 1991

    The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by sections 8(1)(b) and (1A) and 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 1977[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) (No. 2) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 1st October 1991.
    Abolition of Authorities
        2.    The following District Health Authorities are hereby abolished—
       (a) Bristol and Weston Health Authority;
       (b) Frenchay Health Authority;
       (c) Southmead Health Authority.
    Establishment and name of new Authority
        3.    Bristol and District Health Authority is established a District Health Authority for Bristol District[2].
    Amendment of National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990
        4.    In consequence of articles 2 and 3 of this Order the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990[3] shall be amended by the omission from Part 11 of Schedule 1 of the entries in columns (1) and (2) relating to Bristol and Weston District, Frenchay District and Southmead District and the insertion before the entries relating to Cheltenham District of the entries in columns (1) and (2) respectively—
      Bristol District Bristol and District Health Authority.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order abolishes on 1st October 1991 the District Health Authorities named in article 2, and establishes the Bristol and District Health Authority. The National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990 is amended to reflect these changes.
        The changes made to District Health Authorities in this Order are reflected in changes to the districts of the abolished Health Authorities made by the National Health Service (Determination of Districts) (No. 2) Order 1991.
