ROAD TRAFFIC

The A12 Trunk Road (Eastern Avenue, Redbridge) (Prescribed Routes) Order 1991

Made 24th September 1991
Coming into force 28th September 1991

    The Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1), (2) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984[1], and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Secretary of State for the Home Department pursuant to section 7(6) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:—
        1.    This Order may be cited as the A12 Trunk Road (Eastern Avenue, Redbridge) (Prescribed Routes) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 28th September 1991.
        2.    In this Order—
      "Eastern Avenue" means that length of the London to Great Yarmouth Trunk Road (A12) in the London Borough of Redbridge known as Eastern Avenue;

      "central reservation" means that part of Eastern Avenue which separates the two carriageways of Eastern Avenue for the safety and guidance of vehicles using that road;

      "the eastbound right-turn lane" means that traffic lane of the eastbound carriageway of Eastern Avenue which is bounded on its southern side by the central reservation, has a width of 3.5 metres, and extends from the junction westwards for a distance of 95 metres; and

      "the westbound right-turn lane" means that traffic lane of the westbound carriageway of Eastern Avenue which is bounded on its northern side by the central reservation, has a width of 3.5 metres and extends from the junction eastwards for a distance of 92 metres.

        3.    Every person causing any vehicle to proceed in the eastbound right-turn lane shall cause that vehicle to turn right into Beehive Lane.
        4.    Every person causing any vehicle to proceed in the westbound right-turn lane shall cause that vehicle to turn right into Beehive Lane.
        5.    No person shall cause or permit any vehicle proceeding in either carriageway of Eastern Avenue, other than in the eastbound right-turn lane or the westbound right-turn lane, to turn right at the Junction of Eastern Avenue with Beehive Lane.
        6.    No person shall cause or permit any vehicle proceeding in either carriageway of Eastern Avenue to make a U-turn at the junction of Eastern Avenue with Beehive Lane so as to proceed in the opposite direction to that in which it was proceeding.
        7.    Nothing in this Order shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a constable in uniform or of a traffic warden.
