NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE, ENGLAND AND WALES

The National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1995

Made 6th March 1995
Laid before Parliament 8th March 1995
Coming into force 1st April 1995

    The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred on her by sections 8(1)(b) and (1A)(c) and 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 1977[1] and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 1st April 1995.
    Abolition of Authorities
        2.    The District Health Authorities specified in Schedule 1 to this Order are hereby abolished.
    Establishment and names of new Authorities
        3.    For each of the districts determined by the National Health Service (Determination of Districts) Order 1995[2] and specified in column (1) of Schedule 2 to this Order there is established a District Health Authority which shall be known by the name specified in column (2) of that Schedule in relation to that district.
    Amendment of the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990
        4.    In consequence of articles 2 and 3 of this Order the National Health Service (District Authorities) Order 1990[3] shall be amended by—
       (a) the omission from Part 5 of Schedule 1 of the entries in columns (1) and (2) relating to Chichester District, East Surrey District, Mid Downs District, Mid Surrey District, North West Surrey District, South West Surrey District and Worthing District, and the insertion, immediately after the entries in that Part relating to—
         (i) Croydon District, of the following entries in columns (1) and (2) respectively:—
          Eastern Surrey Eastern Surrey Health Authority
         (ii) South East London District, of the following entries in columns (1) and (2) respectively:—
          Western Surrey Western Surrey Health Authority
         (iii) West Kent District, of the following entries in columns (1) and (2) respectively:—
          West Sussex West Sussex Health Authority
       (b) the omission from Part 8 of Schedule 1 of the entries in columns (1) and (2) relating to Chester District and to South and East Cheshire District and the insertion, immediately after the entries relating to Sefton District, of the following entries in columns (1) and (2) respectively:—
        South Cheshire South Cheshire Health Authority
