The Local Authorities (Closure of Accounts) (Wales) Order 1995

Made 4th April 1995

    The Secretary of State for Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by paragraph 12(1) and (2) of Schedule 17 to the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994[1], hereby makes the following Order:—
    Citation and Commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Closure of Accounts) (Wales) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 4th May 1995.
    Interpretation
        2.    In this Order—
      "the 1994 Act" means the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994;
      "old authority" means a county or a district council which will cease to exist as a result of the 1994 Act; and
      "new authorities" means the county or county borough councils established under the 1994 Act.

    Designation of new authorities for closure of old authorities' accounts
        3.—(1)  The designated councils for the purposes of paragraph 12 of Schedule 17 to the 1994 Act are the new authorities set out in column 1 of the Schedule to this Order.

        (2)  Each designated council is designated with respect to the old authority or authorities set out opposite thereto in column 2 of the Schedule to this Order.
