LOCAL GOVERNMENT, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Local Government (Publication of Staffing Information) (England) Regulations 1995

The Secretary of State, being of the opinion that it is necessary to make these Regulations in order to ensure that authorities in England to whom section 2 of the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980^[1] applies publish information specified in the Local Government (Publication of Staffing Information) (England) Code 1995 in the manner and form and on the occasions specified in that Code, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3(2), (3) and (7) of that Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with such associations of authorities to whom section 2 of that Act applies as appear to him to be concerned, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation, commencment and interpretation
    1.—(1)  These Regulations may be cited as the Local Government (Publication of Staffing Information) (England) Regulations 1995 and shall come into force on 1st September 1995.

    (2)  In these Regulations "section 2" means section 2 of the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980.

Requirement to publish code
    2.—(1)  Authorities in England to whom section 2 applies are required to publish the information specified in the Local Government (Publication of Staffing Information) (England) Code 1995 in the manner and form and on the occasions specified in that Code.

    (2)  In this regulation "the Local Government (Publication of Staffing Information) (England) Code 1995" means the code set out in the Annex to the Department of the Environment Circular 14/95, dated 28th July 1995, issued by the Secretary of State for the Environment under section 2 and published by Her Majesty's Stationery Office.

These Regulations require local authorities and certain other authorities in England to publish the information about their staffing levels which is specified in the Local Government (Publication of Staffing Information) (England) Code 1995 in the manner and form, and on the occasions specified in, the Code. The Code is set out in the Annex to Department of the Environment Circular 14/95, which is obtainable from Her Majesty's Stationery Office.
