SOCIAL SECURITY

The Social Fund Cold Weather Payments (General) Amendment Regulations 1995

Laid before Parliament 11th October 1995
Coming into force 1st November 1995

    The Secretary of State for Social Security, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 138(2) and (4) and 175(1), (3) and (4) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after agreement by the Social Security Advisory Committee that proposals in respect of these Regulations should not be referred to it[2], hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation, commencement and interpretation
        1.—(1)  These Regulations may be cited as the Social Fund Cold Weather Payments (General) Amendment Regulations 1995 and shall come into force on 1st November 1995.

        (2)  In these Regulations "the principal Regulations" means the Social Fund Cold Weather Payments (General) Regulations 1988[3].
    Amendment of regulation 3 of the principal Regulations
        2.    In regulation 3 of the principal Regulations (prescribed amount) for the amount "£7" there shall be substituted the amount "£8.50".
    Amendment of Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations
        3.    In Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations (Post Office postcode areas assigned to designated National Climatological Message Stations)
       (a) entries 25 (Finningley), 42 (Mount Batten), 52 (Trawsfynydd), 56 (Watnall) and 62 (Wyton) shall be omitted;
       (b) for entries 6, 14, 21, 33, 45, 46, 47, 49, 50, 54 and 55 there shall be respectively substituted the entries in the Schedule to these Regulations;
       (c) the new entry 11A (Capel Curig) specified in the Schedule to these Regulations, shall be inserted after entry 11 (Brize Norton);
       (d) the new entry 61A (Wittering) specified in the Schedule to these Regulations, shall be inserted after entry 61 (Wilsden)[4].
