SOCIAL SECURITY

The Housing Benefit (Permitted Totals) Amendment Order 1995

Made 5th December 1995
Laid before Parliament 12th December 1995
Coming into force in accordance with article 1(1)

    The Secretary of State for Social Security, in exercise of powers conferred on him by sections 134(12) and 189(1) and (3) to (6) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, after consultation with organisations appearing to him to be representative of the authorities concerned[2] hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation, commencement and interpretation
        1.—(1)  This Order may be cited as the Housing Benefit (Permitted Totals) Amendment Order 1995 and shall come into force on 2nd January 1996 immediately after the Housing Benefit Order 1995 comes into force.

        (2)  In this Order—
      "the Housing Benefit Order 1995"means the Housing Benefit (Permitted Totals) Order 1995[3].

    Amendment of the Housing Benefit Order 1995
        2.    Paragraph (3) of article 4 of the Housing Benefit Order 1995 shall be amended by substituting for the words "paragraph (2)"the words "sub-paragraph (2)(a)".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order amends the Housing Benefit (Permitted Totals) Order 1995 (S.I. 1995/1954) by substituting a reference to sub-paragraph (2)(a) of regulation 12A of the Housing Benefit (General) Regulations 1987 (S.I. 1987/1971) for a reference to paragraph (2) of that regulation.
    This Order does not impose a charge on businesses.
