The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 35(1), (3), (4), (6) and (7) of the Regional Development Agencies Act 1998[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order, a draft of which has been laid before and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament: Citation and Commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the Development Commission (Dissolution) Order 2000, and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made. Dissolution date 2. The Development Commission shall be dissolved on 1st July 2000. Transfer of functions, property, rights and liabilities 3. On the date on which the Development Commission is dissolved:
(b) all other remaining functions, property, rights and liabilities shall transfer to the Countryside Agency[2].
Application of the Superannuation Act 1972
(b) have served but have ceased serving in employment with a Rural Community Council; and,
in either case, are members of the Development Commission (Staff) Superannuation Scheme 1984 as amended on 28th May 1991. (This note is not part of the Order) 1. This Order:
(b) transfers some property to the Secretary of State and any remaining functions, property, rights and liabilities to the Countryside Agency (article 3); and (c) applies the Superannuation Act 1972 to certain employees or former employees of the Development Commission and the Rural Community Councils with pension rights under the Development Commission (Staff) Superannuation Scheme 1984 to enable them to join the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme (article 4).

The Development Commission (Staff) Superannuation Scheme 1984 was made on 25th March 1984 by the Development Commission under the powers conferred upon it by section 1(4) of and paragraph 4(3) of Schedule 1 to the Miscellaneous Financial Provisions Act 1983 and was amended on 28th May 1991.
